This term will likely replace the older term "pick up a card", affecting the top card(s) of the Deck.

To pick up a card is to take and look at a card from the top of the Deck, or a face-down card on the field.

Picked-up cards are still considered to be in the Deck or on the field, and will be treated as such, until sent to the Graveyard, added to the hand, banished, etc.

To prevent cheating, when an effect requires you to pick up a card of a specific type from your Deck, you must reveal the card to your opponent (unless the card lore states otherwise).

You do not lose the Duel if you have no cards in your Deck when required to pick up a card from it.
